Certified that James Sperryn was in the 3.d Company, 4th Battalion artillery under my Command when Captain Cxxx the Company at xxx in 1836/37/38 & 39 and I well remember was an excellent, good, sober standing soldier & I propromoted him to Bombadier in consequence of his good conduct.
